Oregon Chapter of IAPP March 26, 2003 |

| The Oregon Chapter of IAPP meeting was held on March 26, 2003 at Nike, Inc. World Headquarters, in the Tiger Woods Center in Beaverton. There were 20 National members and 20 guests for a total of 40 in attendance. | ![]() |

| Mike Boyle, Oregon Chapter President, opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees. Mike thanked PRG Schultz for sponsoring the meeting and Nike, Inc. for providing the wonderful accommodations. Mike then asked for a show of hands of those people who would be attending the 2003 IAPP Annual Forum April 13th - April 16th at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle, Wa. There were a number of people who will be attending from the Oregon Chapter. Mike requested that 4 or 5 people volunteer to bring back one or two 15 minutes (or less) synopses of their favorite workshop to share with at the next Oregon Chapter meeting in June. | ||||||

Mike
discussed the election of new board officers for the chapter and indicated
voting could only be done by National IAPP members. He requested that
the ballots be completed and turned into the Secretary shortly before
the end of the meeting. Mike Boyle has been the President for the Oregon
Chapter for the past 4 years and is now stepping down. He stated that
he has had a lot of fun but it was time for him to move on.

| Mike then introduced the candidates for two of the three board member positions. The candidate for the position of President was Larry Jackson, who is with Levi Strauss in Eugene, Or. The candidate for Vice President was the current VP, Phyllis Kaylor, with Peace Health Oregon Region in Eugene, Or. There were no candidates for the position of Secretary. Mike asked for nominations and/or volunteers and he briefly explained the duties of the position. One person bravely volunteered for the position, Kris Lawson of Medic 1st Aid, Inc., also of Eugene, Or. Mike explained that the election was open for any National IAPP Oregon Chapter member and that write in's on the ballot were welcome. | ||||||

Mike
then introduced Dr. Jim Basile, a licensed psychologist and the Senior Vice-President
of Corporate Psychology Resources, Western Division for PRG Schultz, who
gave a presentation on "Positioning Your A/P Department for Change".
Dr. Basile started the presentation with a group brainteaser which was followed
by many more group activities. Listed below are the areas which the presentation
included: · Change - Adjusting our lens · Changing requirements within A/P departments · 16 Personality factors · Emotional intelligence · Characteristics of today's' & tomorrows A/P employee · Comparison/Discussion of ideas · Testing the accuracy of our observations The presentation was highly interactive and educational and time flew by as Dr. Basile kept the presentation and group activities moving along with humor and direction. |

| After the presentation Mike announced the unanimous vote of our IAPP members and the board members were elected as follows: | ||||||

At the end of the meeting the door prizes were given out. Kris Lawson drew the names for the great gifts that were given out. The meeting was adjourned after the door prizes were distributed. |
